President statment

I feel honoured and proud to make this statement, as the first president of the Eritrean Public Health Association (Eri-PHA), on behalf of myself and the Executive Committee of the Association.

The Eritrean Public Health Association is a non-profit professional organization established with the main aim of “bringing together people who are trained in public health or public health-related disciplines for the attainment of the highest possible standard of public health for all Eritreans”. The existence of such an organized body is of paramount importance to coordinate the Eritrean public health professionals to work for safeguarding and promoting the public health of the Eritrean People. For the achievement of these goals, Eri-PHA aims to work diligently for the professional development of its members through continuous education, short training courses and evidence-based researches

It has been a little more than a year since the formal establishment of Eri-PHA, which was on August 26, 2017. In this very short existence and with the critical challenges of funds and time constraints, Eri-PHA has been able to register some remarkable achievements, such as revising and publishing the Constitution, establishing a website, conducting a scientific and educational conference, and carrying out consultancies with the Ministry of Health and UNICEF- Eritrea.

The achievements did not come easy as the five members of the Executive Committee are full time employees with demanding responsibilities in their respective workplaces in addition to the various family and social duties they have to attend to.

I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the Association to extend our deep gratitude to the Ministry of Health, and especially to H.E. the Minister, for the remarkable support and cooperation extended during the launching conference and which is still continuing. It is my strong belief that this support and cooperation from the Ministry will also continue in the future.

Finally, I would like to express my admiration and appreciation to my colleagues in the Executive Committee of Eri-PHA for their selfless dedication and hard-work to the advancement of the Association and its goals. My gratitude also extends to all the members of Eri-PHA for their continuous support and attention, which motivate us, the Executive Committee members, in our endeavours.
